දුටුගැමුණු මහරජතුමා මෙතේ බුදුරදුන්ගේ අගසව් වන්නේ කෙසේද?)? ( King Dutugamunu becomes one of the Agrashrawakas (chief disciples- Agrashrāwaka) of Maithriya Bosath(the next Buddha aspirant).How is it ?

The Mahavamsa says that the parents of next Buddha, Maithriya Buddha, are goinf to be King Kawanthissa and Queen Vihara Maha Devi (the parents of King Dutugamunu). Their second son, the brother of King Dutugamunu, will be one of the Agrasrawakas (The chief disciples of Buddha). Prince Saliya, the son of King Dutugamunu will be the son of Maithriya Buddha. The position given to the chief character in this royal family who is King Dutugamunu himself was given only the position of other Agrasrawaka. Then, who will be the next Buddha? We, the people in Heladiva, are still lucky. Why? The Indian writer of Mahavamsa had failed to destroy the relationship that the royal family had with Buddha as an announcement of this nature ( the declaration of the next Buddha and his close relations) can be done only by a Buddha himself.

The documentation of the teachings of the Buddha for the first time was done in the reign of King Walagamba in Heladiva (Sri Lanka). This most significant incident which brings credits to the doctrine and as well as to the people of Lanka, had been given a least recognition by the writer of Mahavamsa (One South Indian monk, probably a Tamil) . But, an outstanding recognition had been given to Ven. Buddhagosha, the Indian Bhikku who translated Hela Atuwa (the commentaries) to Pali  language. Why?

කාවන්තිස්ස රාජ්ය කාලය ජීවමාන ගෞතම බුදුරජාණන් වහන්සේගේ කාලයට සම්බන්ද වීම (The reign of King Kawanthissa ( Kāwanthissa) has connections with the time of Gauthama Buddha)

There had been some more sons for King Gotabaya (the father King of King Kawanthissa), the inscriptions disclose.  The Mahavamsa had created a time gap - Buddha had lived in the time of King Kawanthissa. Buddha had named him as the father of the next Buddha - Maithriya Buddha. This cannot happen in this manner according to the time line indicated in the Mahavamsa. But, it becomes a reality based on information indicated in the inscriptions.

Mahavamsa records that Queen Vihara Maha Devi (mother queen of King Dutugamunu) will be the mother of next Buddha, Maithriya Buddha. But, it hides the fact that she had met Buddha himself. In doing that it had created a time gap between the queen and the Buddha. Queen Vihara Maha Devi was an ascendants Samana, who was later worshipped as a god up to this date. In Buddha's time Lanka was ruled by a king called King Panith. In order to create room for the Indian invader, king Vijaya, nothing of him had been mentioned in Mahavamsa.  Samana had been brought up as a son by this King Panitha. It was this same Samana, later, invited Buddha to his region, Sri Pada as its called now. Damaraja was one of the sons of Samana. Mahathisha Aya had been the son of Damaraja, who was also known as Kelanitissa, the ruler of the Kelaniya region. Kalanitissa's beloved daughter was Vihara Maha Devi. Another son of Sumana was Chema whoes cave was given for Buddha and the Sanga by Queen Vihara Maha Devi.
