It is not necessary
to say that it would be a surprise to the whole universal when someone hears that there had been people in Heladiva in the pre-historic era who could
travel cross the universe. All Hela Atuwaa texts which were used to bring in the
surprise to the entire universe were set on fire. The sole objective of this
act is to take off the rights we did have over heritage of the supermandane bliss
of Nibbana and the important incidents of
this nature. All the ones who did not realize this reality became the targets
of, were fooled by, the aggressive strategies of teachings of Brahmins of King Ashoka and started to believe that the
dawn of the doctrine was originated in India. This was one of the main reasons for us to lose the great and
glorious history of Vessagiriya.
The man living in
the present do not have the strength to assume the knowledge of the ‘Helaya’ (1) as they were
influenced by the misleading writings of the texts such as Mahavamsa which are
filled with the thinkings of Brahmins. But, as these true Hela
information related to the pre-historic era was written in rocks, we got the
opportunity to discover and disclose them. What is depicted by them also is nothing but a story which was disappeared in time.
Another story
related to the legendry love story of the daughter of the Sage Thrunavindu and the Sage
Pulasthi can be seen in
one inscription in Vessagiriya. According to this inscription, it can be accepted positively that they
had got married. The Ramayana records that they got a son
called “Vishrawa”.
This prince got the
name Vishrawa for a special reason. The Sages lived in the past were well aware
about the auspicious times (2) of the conception, the birth of this
child. Based on this knowledge, the Sages knew in advance that one day he will become a great person who will
cross over the universe. It can be seen that he got this name Vishrawa
for this particular reason.
The Lankan groups
with Indian origin and the Indian groups had done their best to hide the fact
that these great Sages had lived in Heladiva. The descendents of these Brahmins, who live in Lanka to this date, do
not have any interest in disclosing the reality of Heladiva in this
manner. Though they like it or not, we do feel that it is our prime duty to
disclose the true history of Lanka and acting upon on that task in this manner.
Sometimes it may
bring surprise for someone that their Prince Vishrawa had been discovered among the
inscriptions of Vessagirirya. For all these times this was not disclosed.
That is because Professor Senarath Paranavithana had defaced
and presented this inscription in the past. He is someone who always did his
best to close up, cover up the incidents which would bring the prestige, good name
and honor to Lanka. If not for those acts of him in this nature, the greatness
of the people of Hela could have been spread across the world by now.
Let me first present
the inscription of Vessagiriya which was defaced by the
professor. Later, I would like to present the real inscription.
88 “පරුමක විශදෙව
පුත පරුමක සුමනහ ලෙණෙ
සග නියතෙ” – “Parumaka
Vishadeva Putha Parumaka Sumanaha Lene Saga Niyathe”
This inscription is
something which was examined by the scholars. In ‘Inscriptions
of Ceylon’ Professor Senarath
Paranavithana had mentioned about this in this manner.
(I.C. 07) He had mentioned it in this
manner in English letters. The translation of this was done by Mr.
Nandasena Mudiyanse. The inscription
found there is presented as follows. (Sinhala Shilalekana Sangrahaya,
page 58). This same inscription is presented by Don Martheenu De Silava Wickramasinghe
as
“පරුමක විස්රව පුත පරුමක සුමනහ ලෙණෙ ශගස ය” (තෙ?) – “Parumaka
Vishrawa Putha Parumaka Sumanaha Lene Shagasa Ya (The?)”.- (Sinhala
Shilalekana Sangrahaya, page 12).
With regards to this
inscription, in his book titled “Lanka Rawana Rajadaniaya” (The Kingdom of Rawana), Mr. Ariyadasa Senewirathna also
attempts to explain that the real name should be “Vishrawa” but not “Vishadewa”. (The
Kingdom of Rawana, page 54, 55, 56).
We personally
visited this place to see, examine and understand the truth behind this inscription which had been criticized as explained above. We were
able to trace it up as it is. What is given below is that particular inscription.
“pa ru ma ka vi shra wa pu tha Pa ruma
ka Su ma na ha le ne sha ga ni sa ya the”
In the English book of Mr Senarath
Paranavithana there is another inscription with this name
under number 953. (I.C.74). Mr. Nandasena Mudiyanse also has presented this
in Sinhala language as “පරුමක
විශදෙවශ (Parumaka
Vishadevasha). (Sinhala Shilalekana Sangrahaya,
page 156). Mr Senarath Paranavithana has not presented the ‘book copy’ at the end of his book. It had
been done purposely as a contrivance and the copies of other inscriptions which
were placed next to them too had
been taken off from the book. It is very clear that he had taken this as a tactful
approach and then in return it would support his main opinion.
1 - ‘Helaya’ in Sinhala language is ‘The
person of Heladiva’ or The Hela person.
2 - These are called Naketh in Sinhala
language and are still practiced by the people in Lanka. (Read the Appendix for
more details).
